In furtherance to the announcement made by Economy Minister Silvio Schembri, the Covid-19 Wage Supplement Scheme, which was due to expire on the 30th April 2020, has been extended to cover an additional two months. Employees will therefore continue to benefit from a basic wage cover for the months of May and June 2020 under the said scheme.

Business having already applied to benefit under the scheme for the months of March and April 2020, will not be required to submit a new application.  Such businesses will nevertheless be required to confirm details which had been provided to Malta Enterprise, for instance a confirmation of the total number of employees of the company.

However, it is important to note that all new applicants submitting an application from the 1st of May onwards, will not be entitled to benefit under the scheme retrospectively and will only be eligible for the wage supplement covering the months of May and June 2020.
