Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA)'s Atlantic Innovation Fund

Description Eligibility Application details
  • Propel is an accelator program devoted exclusively to Atlantic Canada. Propel works with technology companies that have potential to scale quickly.
  • The program offers mentorship and may assist with early stage funding by connecting companies to investors.
  • There are no up-front costs to join
  • The program is flexible and accepts a wide range of early stage technology companies, whether led by solo founders or larger teams, and at various stages of their growth

Tax Return Filing Deadline Deferrals

Description Eligibility Application details
  • International Fuel Tax Agreement returns for Q1 2020 due on April 30, 2020 from inter-jurisdictional carriers, under section 8 of the Revenue Administration Regulations, are now due and payable on June 1, 2020
  • All other tax returns falling under the purview of the Revenue Administration Act and Regulations, which would otherwise be due March 20, 2020 to May 31, 2020, are now due June 23, 2020. The tax returns applicable to this extension include: Gasoline Tax, Carbon Tax, Health and Post-Secondary Education Tax, Insurance Companies Tax, Mining and Mineral Rights Tax, Tax on Insurance Premiums and Tobacco Tax
  • Businesses based in Newfoundland and Labrador may be eligible

Deferred Loan Payments

Description Eligibility Application details
  • The Department of Tourism, Culture, Industry and Innovation (TCII) has implemented a three month deferral of loan payments for all clients with business loans under the Innovation and Business Investment Corporation's Business Investment Fund. Payments scheduled to be processed in April, May and June of 2020 will be deferred
  • Organizations will not be required to reimburse TCII for funding for programming that was cancelled or delayed due to COVID-19
  • Worker safety training certificates that expired since February 28, 2020 have been extended to June 30, 2020, with workers having to recertify by August 30, 2020
  • Businesses based in Newfoundland and Labrador may be eligible

  • Deferring the collection of employer assessment payments and waiving interest charges or penalties until June 30, 2020
