November 30th 2016 - Canadian Immigration authorities conducted the 25th round of invitations under Express Entry in 2016 and 48th overall, inviting 559 applicants for permanent residence from the provincial nominee class only.  The lowest comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score was 786.

It was the first draw since immigration authorities substantially modified the express entry comprehensive ranking system. However, it was the first time there were no candidates selected under any federal programs, including the Federal Skilled Worker, Canadian Experience Class or Skilled Trades.  Candidates under these programs must await future draws in order to ascertain the effects of the recent modifications which now awards points for Canadian education and work permit holders without requirement for a labour market impact assessment (LMIA).

Express Entry is an immigration system implemented by Canadian immigration authorities ("CIC") on January 1, 2015 which manages skilled worker applications under Federal Economic programs. This includes the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Skilled Trades Program the Canada Experience Class and certain parts of the Provincial Nominee Program.

Stakeholders expect to see future CRS scores well below 500 this year to enable Canadian immigration authorities to meet targeted annual immigration levels for 2016.
