Neil Wheeler, partner in the Plaintiff Personal Injury Practice Group at Lerners LLP Toronto, speaks about Long-Term Disability ("LTD") claims and what you need to know about these claims.

Neil discusses options you may have if your insurance company denies your LTD benefits application. One option is to start a claim against your insurer.

Neil also discusses what you may be able to obtain from your insurer in an LTD claim. This includes arrears in benefits, an award of punitive damages, and possibly a full and final lump sum payment.

If your insurance company has denied your LTD application, or has cut off the LTD benefits you were receiving, you should contact a lawyer with experience acting for disabled people in LTD claims. You can discuss with that lawyer whether it makes sense to start an LTD claim.
