It's official. Most of the provisions of Canada's new anti-spam legislation ("CASL") will come into force on July 1, 2014. Organizations will need to take immediate action to make sure that their communications practices comply with CASL. Although there is a new exemption to parts of CASL for registered charities, it is a limited exemption. The exemption is limited to commercial electronic messages sent by registered charities that have, as their primary purpose, the purpose of raising funds for the charity.
