Joseph B. Hoffman, a partner and co-chair of the firm's D.C. Business Group, died on December 30, 2023. He joined the firm as a partner in 1999.
Practical and results-driven, Joe was a prolific deal maker, and highly strategic and persuasive in advancing his clients' interests. His practice focused on real estate and corporate transactions involving the purchase and sale of assets and companies, as well as institutional financing transactions. He represented real estate developers, telecommunications companies, lenders, venture capital funds, emerging growth companies, thoroughbred horse industry interests, and high net worth individuals.
Joe was a dear friend, a trusted colleague, and a strong advocate for his clients and co-workers. He dedicated his time and talents to community service, including as a board member of Congregation Beth El of Montgomery County and as past board chair of Charles E. Smith Life Communities. An avid sports fan, he cheered for Pittsburgh sports teams, particularly his beloved Steelers, and enjoyed road biking, swimming, and summers in Maine with his family.
