KPMG Consulting today launches KPMG Service Provider Solutions with the opening of its Service Provider Solution Centre at Stockley Park, UK. This new facility provides new world Internet Protocol (IP) services design, development, integration, testing, demonstration and implementation for cable, mobile and fixed line service providers.
The Service Provider Solution Centre demonstrates KPMG Consulting's intention to be a powerful force in this space through its strategic alliance with Cisco Systems. It is here that KPMG is building world class, market-leading solutions based on a unique, pre-configured reference architecture, Configure To Fit™ (CTF™).
Configure-To-Fit™ ensures an accelerated time to market and revenue for service providers by pre-configuring all the components necessary to become a next generation operator in today's competitive market. This includes key operational and business support system (OSS/BSS) components such as web interaction, customer management, business support, customer self-provisioning, network management, mediation, legacy integration, billing and payment.
Alan Taylor, COO, KPMG Service Provider Solutions, comments:
"KPMG is accelerating into the service provider systems and network integration market as the implementation partner of choice. We have built a new business and a new capability here to deliver the next generation of IP-based solutions to European service providers. KPMG is uniquely positioned to deliver complete solutions, from business process to technology deployment, through our wealth of board-level business experience, systems integration technical expertise and the benefit of our strategic alliance with Cisco Systems."
Service providers can use the extensive Stockley Park facilities to create innovative next generation IP-based services and exploit new technologies. The Solution Centre supports service development for digital subscriber line (DSL), virtual private networks (VPN), voice over IP (VoIP), wireless, cable, optical and dial networks. It allows service providers to integrate and test new services against existing systems in a risk-free environment.
Proof of concept evaluation systems currently focus on mobile, IP-VPN (IP-based virtual private networks) and IPQoS (IP quality of service). Capability and service demonstrations currently include interactive digital television (iDTV), VoIP, video on demand (VOD), high speed data (HSD), web-enabled customer self-provisioning, real-time IP billing and interactive services (IS).
Gareth Lewis, head of sales and marketing, KPMG Service Provider Solutions, comments:
"To survive in today's climate, service providers need to enter new markets and offer new services with the speed to gain first mover advantage and reduced time to revenue. Our Solution Centre is a major component in helping them to be successful. As an example of the level of support it offers, its switching infrastructure is powerful enough to handle all the network traffic for a city the size of Paris, France. With this facility, KPMG is able to transform clients into new world service providers, from concept to commercial reality, or provide specific business solutions such as customer self service."
The KPMG Service Provider Solution Centre is one of six global facilities and is the first to be established in Europe. The centre gives service providers a comprehensive picture of how KPMG and Cisco can help them meet the challenges of the new IP world. KPMG invites service providers to test IP solutions in this state of the art facility and discover how newly developed IP services will deliver reduced time to revenue in their own environments.
