We have received reports that the "MUSTAFA KAN  ", a 2009 built container vessel flying the Panamanian flag, has been damaged and is reported to possibly be sinking off Augusta, Italy. Tugs have been dispatched to assist the crew and provide any other assistance required.

It is carrying a cargo of containers loaded in various ports.

If it is possible to rescue the vessel, it is likely to require professional assistance from salvors.

It is also possible that General Average will be declared if it survives.
