On the 26th of March 2015, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat launched the Yachting Malta Limited, a joint venture between the Royal Malta Yacht Club and the Government of Malta through Malta Projects Limited.

Yachting Malta will thus focus on developing a business plan to attract more yachting related activities which will be an onset benefit to the economy of the country.

Godwin Zammit, commodore of the Royal Malta Yacht Club, has expressed his confidence in the Malta Government with respect to this joint venture and reiterated the Prime Minister's point on committing to the task of making Malta a truly unique destination for yachting enthusiasts.

For an island steeped in maritime history and boasting one of the most spectacular harbours, it was only fitting for Malta to host the opening stage of the RC44 Class Valletta Cup between the 23rd and 29th of March. The Valletta Cup featured 5 day of intense racing of 12 identical RC44 Class boats racing off Sliema coastline and inside the Grand Harbour.
