On Tuesday, June 5, 2018, the Lake County Board of County Commissioners will consider an ordinance that, if passed, will raise transportation impact fee rates for all developments located in the central and northern sections of Lake County by over five times their current rate. A map of the Lake County districts can be found here, and the rate increases are shown in the table below:

Additionally, the ordinance discontinues the option for developers to pre-pay transportation impact fees. Any pre-payments of impact fees made between April 1, 2008 and May 21, 2018 will remain valid and avoid the new impact fee rate for twelve months from the date that the new impact fee is issued. However, if building permits are not obtained within twelve months, developers will be required to pay the new, increased transportation impact fees.

The draft ordinance was initially heard by the County on May 22, 2018, during which the Board approved the language of the ordinance to be circulated for public notice. If the ordinance passes on June 5, it will go into effect on September 15, 2018, at which point, developers will be required to pay the new rate for all building permits pulled after that date. A copy of the ordinance can be found here.
