A September 20 article in Bloomberg BNA's Health Care Daily Report and other publications, entitled "Is the Federal Insurance Exchange Secure?," discussed the September Work Plan update from the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Inspector General (OIG). The update includes a new review of the federal insurance exchange enrollment system, covering information technology security and operational readiness. Day Pitney's Eric Fader was quoted in the article.

The OIG's Work Plan outlines oversight activities the agency intends to conduct. "Given the recent increased pace of cyberattacks elsewhere, a fresh security review that incorporates what the government's IT professionals have observed and learned since their last review can never be a bad thing," Eric told Bloomberg BNA. He added that another newly announced Work Plan update, a review of how HHS handles cybersecurity incidents, reflects the OIG's focus on cybersecurity.
