By a vote of 81-16, the United States Senate confirmed Kevin Allen Hassett as Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers.

Mr. Hassett most recently served as a tax policy expert at the American Enterprise Institute, where he held the positions of Chair in American Politics and Culture and Director of Research for Domestic Policy. Previously, Mr. Hassett served as senior economist for the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System and was an associate professor of economics and finance at Columbia Business School. He has held economic advisory roles for several former Republican presidential candidates and served as a U.S. Treasury consultant under former presidents Bill Clinton and George H.W. Bush.
