The U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry (the "Committee") will meet on July 27, 2017 to consider three nominations to be CFTC Commissioners.

The Committee will consider the nominations of Rostin Behnam, Brian D. Quintenz, and Dawn DeBerry Stump. Mr. Behnam is senior counsel to U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow of Michigan. Prior to serving Senator Stabenow, Mr. Behnam practiced law in New York City and worked at the New Jersey Office of the Attorney General.

Mr. Quintenz was the Founder, Managing Principal, and Chief Investment Officer of Saeculum Capital Management LLC from November 2013 to November 2016. He also worked at the hedge fund Hill-Townsend Capital and as a legislative aide and senior policy advisor to former Rep. Deborah Pryce, R-Ohio. Mr. Quintenz had been nominated by President Obama in 2016.

Mrs. Stump is currently president of Stump Strategic, a consulting firm she founded in 2016. Prior to assuming this role, Mrs. Stump served as executive director of the Americas Advisory Board for the Futures Industry Association and as a vice president at NYSE Euronext.

The CFTC is slated to consist of five commissioners. There are currently only two members, and one (Sharon Bowen) has announced her intention to step down (see  previous coverage).
