On March 15, Eric Fader presented a live webinar for The
American Society of Neurophysiological Monitoring (ASNM) entitled
"Navigating Legal Issues in Neuromonitoring." The webinar
was recorded and will be available on demand from the ASNM website within a few days. It is free for ASNM
members and costs $59 for non-members, and is approved for one hour
of ASNM-CEUs and AMA PRA Category 1 Credit.
The material Eric covered included joint ventures; federal and
state laws and regulations affecting the intraoperative
neuromonitoring (IONM) field, including anti-kickback,
self-referral, HIPAA, and anti-markup rules; contractual matters
among IONM providers, employees and contractors, and hospital
customers; state licensure and delegation laws; and billing and
collection issues, including state "surprise bill" laws.
The prepared portion of the webinar ran for one hour and five
minutes and was followed by 30 minutes of questions and answers on
a broad range of topics.
