On April 11, the U.S. District Court for the Central District of
California consolidated cases brought against a smart-TV
manufacturer for improperly sharing users' information.
Plaintiffs alleged that the TV manufacturer collected data
regarding "the date, time, channel of programs and whether
users watch them live or recorded," and shared this
information with third parties. This information allowed the third
parties to engage in advertising targeted at the specific
consumer.
