The Wyoming Oil and Gas Conservation Commission ("WOGCC") reportedly voted 5-0 in favor of new rules aimed at reducing flaring and venting in the state.

Another goal of the new rules is to improve data collection on methane emissions from oil wells, as the new rules will have additional disclosure requirements. The current requirements, which can be found here, require reports of total emission levels but do not require companies to identify what type of gas is being released or how it is being disposed of (vented or flared). The new rules will reportedly require operators to say what is being emitted and whether it is being vented or flared.

In addition, the new rules reportedly leave flaring thresholds unchanged but lower the daily venting limit from 60,000 cubic feet of gas to 20,000 cubic feet of gas.
