David Aronoff was quoted in the Law360 article "'Walk Of Shame' Copyright Row Nears End Of Line." Full text can be found in the July 27, 2015, issue, but a synopsis is below.

A California federal judge tentatively dismissed a screenwriter's claims that an actress, her husband and six production companies, including Broken Road Productions Inc. and producer Todd Garner, stole the script for the film, "Walk of Shame."  The judge said that the similarities between the plaintiff's script and the film were too general for a copyright claim.

David praised the judge's assessment that the similarities in the two stories were nothing more than generalities.

"That's not what copyright protects.  It protects expression, not generalities," he said.  "The works are so disparate ... they go in completely different directions."

David is representing Todd Garner and Broken Road Productions Inc.
