On October 5, the European Data Protection Supervisor
("EDPS") issued an Opinion outlining its position on the
legislative package titled "A New Deal for Consumers."
The package contains the Proposal for a Directive regarding better
enforcement and modernization of EU consumer protection rules. It
also contains the Proposal for a Directive on representative
actions for the protection of the collective interests of
consumers.
