ASHE (2000) 6115: Carers' wages at highest ever level

The 2016 data for ASHE (SOC 2000) 6115, wages of care workers, home carers and senior care workers has been published.

The statistics show that carers' wages have increased by 3.53% over the rate of inflation.

The key points are as follows:-

  • There has been an average increase across the centiles of some 4.65%.
  • Again, this year, those workers in the top centiles, namely the 75th, 80th and 90th centiles, have however seen a lower percentage increase:-

  • Carers' earnings across all percentiles are at an all-time high.
  • By comparison, the retail prices index has this year increased by 1.12% to April 2016;the consumer prices index has only risen, however, by 0.10% in the same period.
