On October 5, the Information Commissioner's Office
("ICO") published a proposal that would require data controllers
to pay a data protection fee under the Digital Economy Act after
the repeal of the Data Protection Act of 1998. There will be three
levels of payment reflecting the size of the organization, and the
new fees would commence in April 2018.
