Under the Canada Not-for-profit Corporations Act, a member or a member's personal representative may examine the corporation's records during the corporation's business hours. The records that can be accessed are: articles, by-laws, minutes of members' meetings, debt obligation registers, and the registers of directors, officers and members. (By the way, creditors can also access these records, not just members.)
Members cannot generally get access to minutes of directors' meetings, except that they can access portions that contain conflict of interest disclosures.
Members also have access to the financial statements of the corporation before the AGM – these should be sent to the members with the notice of the meeting or be available at the registered office of the corporation during the AGM notice period.
