This week is National Consumer Fraud Week, an initiative of the Australian Fraud Taskforce.

Keeping personal data safe – and the best ways to do this – is being highlighted by this year's event.

With Fraud Week following on from Privacy Awareness Week, it is relevant to note that the Privacy Commissioner received 4016 complaints about privacy in the year since changes were introduced in March 2014. This is an average of 11 each and every day of the year!

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission provides information about fraud protection as part of its SCAMwatch website.
