IN BRIEF

The SWAAB Separation Survival Kit is aimed at providing people going through the difficulties of a relationship or marriage breakdown with important information to put them back in control of their life.

The Family Law Team at Swaab has recently developed a Separation Survival Kit. It's aimed at providing people going through the difficulties of a relationship or marriage breakdown with important information that will put them back in control of their life. Our Survival Kit is discretely and innovatively stored on a flash drive USB stick.

We find that during this trying time people often turn to a trusted doctor, accountant, advisor, HR manager, mediator, colleague or friend for support. Leaving the office with a USB filled with useful information and helpful tools is invaluable assistance to them as they navigate their way to a resolution, in a discrete and confidential manner. Some of the tools provided in the kit include:

  • 'Preparing for your first meeting' – a form to help you prepare for the first initial meeting with your family lawyer
  • 'Thinking of separating checklist' – to ensure you protect yourself and your family
  • 'Budget tool' to track family expenses
  • Links to practical articles and useful websites that can guide you to find the right outcome for your circumstances

Using these tools is an easy way to pass crucial information on early in the process. Completing the forms and checklists we provide on the USB, can save time and money by having considered relevant information and prepared the right kind of questions prior to the first meeting.

Our family law team understands that there are some difficult issues to face during a separation. Our tools and guides along with specialised advice will give you direction and keep you focused to reach a well negotiated and friendly settlement. Referring patients, colleagues, employees, clients and friends to our Family Law Team ensures they will receive advice from trusted and experienced professionals in the field.
