As we have previously reported, the Australian Government has committed to abolish the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). The Government has now released the "Options Paper - Australia's Charities and Not-for-profits" which sets out proposed replacement arrangements for charities in Australia.

The Government is seeking feedback on the proposed arrangements. This will be used as a basis for consultation with stakeholders and help inform drafting of the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (Repeal) (no.2) Bill 2014, to be introduced later his year. If passed, this Bill will implement the arrangements that will replace the ACNC.

A copy of the Options Paper is available at the Australian Department of Social Services website.

Written submissions in response to the Options Paper close on 20 August 2014. A summary of submissions will be provided on the Department's website in September 2014.

Please contact us if you need assistance in preparing your submission in response to the Options Paper.
