Former Under Secretary of State and Time Magazine
Editor, Richard Stengel will join moderator Kanika Mehra for a
critical discussion on how foreign disinformation tactics have
infiltrated domestic discourse. The event, hosted at Mintz's
New York office, will examine how techniques Stengel confronted
while combating ISIS and Russian disinformation have emerged within
American borders.
Drawing from his firsthand experience as the Obama
administration's disinformation czar, Stengel will explore how
the playbook he documented in "Information Wars" has
evolved and been adapted by domestic actors. The conversation will
trace the arc from foreign influence campaigns to current
challenges facing American democracy, including the role of social
media algorithms and emerging AI technologies in amplifying false
narratives.
"What I witnessed fighting disinformation abroad has become a
domestic reality," says Stengel. "Understanding these
patterns is essential for protecting the integrity of our public
discourse."
The event will include a Q&A session and book signing
opportunity. Space is limited, and registration is required.
