Two cooking teams from Barry.Nilsson. Lawyers have recently participated in the Ronald McDonald House 'Make a Meal' program.

Both teams set out to the supermarket Masterchef style to pick out the ingredients and design a scrumptious main meal and dessert for the House's residents.

More often than not the resident families spend all day at the hospital and do not have the time to shop or the energy to cook dinner.

The aim of the Make a Meal program is for individuals and companies to have the opportunity to provide a healthy and tasty meal for the outstation families staying in the House.

Barry.Nilsson. Senior Associate, Shanna Livingstone, was one of the participants and found it fun, challenging and very fulfilling.

"It was great to meet the families on the night. After a couple of weeks of planning the meal it was exciting when the day arrived."

"I really enjoyed getting to know the resident families in the house. They're going through a really difficult time in their lives and it was really rewarding to see how much something simple like a home cooked meal made their day a little bit easier," said Shanna.

Managing Partner, Don Leembruggen, places a lot of emphasis on the firm's charity involvement and encourages all staff to contribute to something during the year.

"At Barry.Nilsson. we take our charity program very seriously and give all staff the opportunity to contribute in their own way by supporting a variety of charities."

"This particular charity appealed to those that enjoy cooking and we had approximately 30 people interested in volunteering," said Don.

The firm cooks a main meal and dessert every 4 weeks with three teams rotating each time.
