Gowling WLG's Life Sciences team is celebrating success at the 2024 Legal Business Awards after being crowned 'Life Sciences Team of the Year'. The team is recognised for having advised longstanding client AstraZeneca on a £2.85 billion collaboration and license agreement with biopharmaceutical company Quell Therapeutics, to create potentially life-changing new treatment for patients suffering from autoimmune diseases.
The esteemed 'Life Sciences Team of the Year' award recognises the team that has handled innovative work and has attracted the most impressive instructions of the year in this constantly changing sector.
A specialist team advised on this deal including Co-Head of Life Sciences in the UK, Patrick Duxbury, with Corporate Partner Ian Piggin, Principal Associate Róisín Bergin and Senior Associate Laura Barron. They worked closely with AstraZeneca's Senior Legal Counsel Ulrika Lilja Stevall.
