Martinez not guilty of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing
death. The second trial led to a conviction, however, that was
later overturned and a retrial ordered because the jury had been

QCAT rule amendments now in effect
Amendments to the Queensland Civil and Administrative
Tribunal Rules 2009 commenced on 4 April 2016. They affect minor
debt applications, e-filing and cost assessors. The amendments
increase the time in which a minor debt application can be served on the
respondent from 28 days to 90 days.

Civil and Administrative Tribunal Legislation Amendment Regulation
(No. 1) 2016
Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal Act 2009 - The
Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) has identified
potential amendments to the Queensland Civil and Administrative
Tribunal Regulation 2009 (QCAT Regulation) and Queensland Civil and
Administrative Tribunal Rules 2009 (QCAT Rules) to streamline
QCAT's operations and increase its efficiency. Part 2 of
this amendment regulation amends the QCAT Regulation to consolidate
existing provisions in Schedule 1 about prescribed fees to remove
unnecessary duplication.
