Held in association with The American Lawyer, The Asian Lawyer and Legal Week, the China Law & Practice Awards are known as China's most renowned ceremony for the legal elite and look to identify the biggest and most important commercial legal matters that involved lawyers and parties in China.

Similarly, the HFM Asia Services Awards aim to recognise and reward hedge fund service providers who have demonstrated exceptional client service, innovative product development and strong and sustainable business growth over the past 12 months.

Anthony McKenzie, managing partner of Carey Olsen's Singapore office, said: "To be named among the offshore finalists for two of the most prestigious awards in the Asian legal and funds sectors is recognition of the high standards of client service and legal advice we are offering out of both the Singapore and Hong Kong offices. It's easy to forget Carey Olsen is still a relatively new entrant to the Asia market but nominations like this, coupled with our involvement on a range of notable China-related matters and hedge fund transactions in the past year, underline the growing attractiveness of our multi-jurisdictional strategy in Asia."

News of the shortlistings comes at an exciting time for Carey Olsen in Asia. It follows last week's announcement that the firm had added Bermuda law capabilities to the Hong Kong office with the relocation of Bermudians Henry Tucker and Kyle Masters, which itself followed the launch of the firm's corporate and finance practice in Hong Kong with the lateral partner hire of Michael Paradin.

In Singapore, corporate and funds lawyer Andrew Tually has rejoined the firm as counsel to provide specialist Cayman Islands and Guernsey legal advice after a year with one of the leading commercial law firms in Australia. Andrew's return means Carey Olsen is the only offshore law firm with a fully-staffed 'Channel Islands' desk in Asia, meaning it can offer Asia-based clients a complete suite of multi-jurisdictional legal services in their time zone.

Winners of the China Law & Practice Awards will be announced at a ceremony at Kerry Hotel Beijing on Thursday 19 September, while winners of the HFM Asia Services Awards will be announced on Wednesday 13 November during a ceremony at JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.
