Depending on the MW size, solar energy projects in Vietnam must be included in either the National Energy Masterplan or the relevant Provincial Energy Masterplan. This is a notoriously opaque process and it is all but impossible to know for certain the status of discussions to include or not a given project. Investors need to be extremely pro-active and do their homework to make sure they are working on the right levers. The table in the link below indicates the status of current known existing and proposed solar energy projects based on public information. It pays to be aware however that there's plenty of discussions going on behind the scenes. The message: don't sit and wait!
