Dr. Chris Cardona, Maltese minister for the Economy, Investment and Small Business, has attended the Malta Day celebrations that took place in Dubai on the 51st anniversary since Malta became independent. The first diplomatic relations that were established between Malta and Dubai were established in 1973. Since then, both countries have expressed mutual solidarity whenever the opportune circumstance arose.
During his address to the present guests, minister Cardona expressed his pleasure at being present for the celebrations in Dubai. He further stated that the Maltese Government believes that the two countries will continue to strengthen their relations based on mutual trust and respect for the many years to come. The Maltese Government and Malta Enterprise, along the past years, have already brought numerous delegations of business leaders to the Gulf region.
Minister Cardona affirmed that the intention is that of building long-lasting relations in the future, similar to those that have already been created along the last decades, particularly as this clearly shows Malta's commitment to the region.
According to the minister, trade between Malta and UAE is diverse, ranging from food and chemicals to pharmaceuticals, textiles and fabrics. These sectors will continue to grow and flourish in tandem with strengthened trade relations established between the two countries. The minister concluded by saying that such event help maintain such relations and strengthen ties between the two countries in order to further develop mutual benefits for all involved players.
