The Legislative Council has passed a Bill designating 3 September 2015 (Thursday) a one-off additional General Holiday and statutory holiday.

An employer of an employee covered by the Employment Ordinance must grant to that employee a statutory holiday on 3 September 2015 or an alternative or substituted holiday in accordance with the requirements of the Employment Ordinance. If the employee has been employed under a continuous contract for three months or more before the statutory holiday, then the employer must also pay statutory holiday pay to the employee.
