 Autumn Statement 2014

  • The Government will refund the VAT that hospice charities incur.
  • The Government has committed a further £50 million of LIBOR fines over the next 6 years to support military charities and other good causes.
  • From April 2015, UK search and rescue and air ambulance charities will be eligible to claim refunds on VAT they have paid on purchases of goods and services for their non-business activities.
  • The Government will publish draft legislation to allow regulations to be made which give intermediaries a greater role in administering Gift Aid.
  • The Government will continue and extend the review of donor benefits launched at Budget 2014 to include consideration of the rules for claiming Gift Aid on membership and entrance fees.

Change your charity structure and transferring charity assets

The Charity Commission publishes guidance on changing an unincorporated association or trust to a charitable company or CIO and on transferring a charity's money, investments or property to another charity if it closes, merges or is replaced by a charitable company or CIO.
