Cadwalader added two Special Counsel to the Financial Services Group and Corporate Group: Michael Sholem at the London office and Nick Ramphal at the New York office.

Mr. Sholem concentrates on the supervision and regulation of banks, investment firms, payment institutions and asset managers. His practice includes advising on the effects of new regulations, with a specific focus on market infrastructure and financial technology. Mr. Sholem also has extensive experience advising clients on developments in European Union law and Brexit issues.

Scott Cammarn, co-chair of Cadwalader's Financial Services Group, said:

"Michael is a valuable addition to our Financial Services Group in the UK and the U.S. Increasingly, banks and other financial institutions require advice on regulatory changes and challenges that impact their cross-border operations. Michael will fit in seamlessly with our London team and our market-leading capabilities in the U.S."

Mr. Ramphal practice focuses on public and private acquisitions, leveraged buyouts, corporate governance matters, takeover and defense preparedness, and proxy contests. He has played a critical role in a number of recent transactions, consistently advising leading public companies, financial institutions and private equity firms in their most complex deals.

Richard Brand, co-chair of Cadwalader's Corporate Group, said:

"Nick is very well regarded in the market, and the breadth of his experience in representing clients and boards of directors on a wide range of transactional, complex corporate governance and activism-related matters makes him a perfect complement to our practice."
