On April 12, 2018, the U.S. Department of the Treasury announced that John E. Smith will be stepping down as director of the U.S. Office of Foreign Assets Control in early May 2018. Mr. Smith's 11-year career with OFAC includes serving as Acting Director/Director of OFAC since February 2015, and previously serving as OFAC's Deputy Director and as an Associate Director.
