CHARLOTTE, N.C.—Womble Carlyle attorney Mike Tobin will discuss "Lessons Learned from Recent Data Breaches" with members of the German American Chamber of Commerce.

The next large-scale data breach of confidential customer information is a question of "When?" not "If."  Despite numerous cautionary tales, and the massive repercussions felt by companies hit by data breaches, they continue to occur with regularity. However, there are steps companies can take to reduce their chances of being the next data breach victim. Tobin will examine several recent data breaches and discuss lessons learned from each.

Womble Carlyle's Charlotte office will host the August 3 GACC Executive Roundtable. Womble Carlyle Client Service Director and GACC Board member Stephanie Hinrichs organized the event.

Mike Tobin has two decades of experience representing clients in complex technology and intellectual property transactions, including technology development and acquisition arrangements;  patent and trademark license agreements; intellectual property M&A and financing transactions; and internet legal disputes.  Tobin is a registered patent attorney with significant IP litigation experience.
