The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Indian Energy has announced its Notice of Intent for funding opportunities ranging from $50,000 to $1 million to maximize the development and deployment of clean energy and energy efficiency solutions in Indian Country. The Funding Opportunity Announcement is slated for release in November 2016.
DOE seeks applications from tribal governments, Alaska Native Regional Corporations and Village Corporations, tribal energy resource development organizations and tribal consortiums. A 50 percent cost share from non-federal sources is required.
Project Areas of Interest
DOE anticipates making multiple awards that range from $50,000 to $500,000 for tribal building clean energy and energy efficiency retrofits, including facility-scale clean energy systems, either renewable energy generation or combined heat and power systems, and/or facility-scale deep energy retrofits, including energy efficiency measures that address total building energy intensity.
In addition, DOE anticipates making awards that range from $250,000 to $1 million for community-scale clean energy deployment. Proposed clean energy solutions must be developed on tribal land for use by a substantial number of tribal facilities.
