Effective today, you won't need it anymore.
As part of the
overhaul of our procedural rules in 2015, most notary
requirements were eliminated– affidavits, discovery
responses, petitions. (If you were at Family Law Institute
you'd already know this.)
All except for one: Stipulated Judgments and Decrees, which
still had to be notarized under Minn. R. Gen. Prac. 308.04.
No more.
As of today, Rule 308.04 is amended to allow for the same
penalty-of-perjury declaration as any other sworn statement.
So congratulations. Take that $120 you would have spent renewing
your notary commission and treat yourself.
The content of this article is intended to provide a general
guide to the subject matter. Specialist advice should be sought
