WASHINGTON, D.C.—The FCC is set to require the radio industry to follow the television industry in requiring its local public file materials to be posted online.

Womble Carlyle Telecom attorney John Garziglia examines the FCC online local public file requirements at Radio Ink. Garziglia notes that the requirement seems at odds with other FCC requirements, for example, the requirement that stations to advertise job vacancies in newspapers rather than online.

"If the FCC is going to change its local public file rules to require Internet posting, maybe it is also time for the FCC to review other mid-20th century regulatory anachronisms which place burdens upon both the public and broadcasters," Garziglia writes.
