As a result of the 2014 midterm elections, eleven new Governors could appoint new insurance commissioners/directors/superintendents in 2015:

  1. Alaska – Independent Bill Walker replaces Republican Governor Sean Parnell
  2. Arizona – Republican Doug Ducey replaces Republican Governor Jan Brewer
  3. Arkansas – Republican Asa Hutchinson replaces Democrat Governor Mike Beebe
  4. Hawai`i – Democrat David Ige replaces Democrat Governor Neil Abercrombie
  5. Illinois – Republican Bruce Rauner replaces Democrat Governor Pat Quinn
  6. Maryland – Republican Larry Hogan replaces Democrat Governor Martin O'Malley
  7. Massachusetts – Republican Charlie Baker replaces Democrat Governor Deval Patrick
  8. Nebraska – Republican Pete Ricketts replaces Republican Governor David Heineman
  9. Pennsylvania – Democrat Tom Wolf  replaces Republican Governor Tom Corbett
  10. Rhode Island – Democrat Gina Raimondo replaces Independent Governor Lincoln Chafee
  11. Texas – Republican Greg Abbott replaces Republican Governor Rick Perry
