The article explores the trend of financial institutions' increasing appetite for investment in the energy sector and the compliance problems it may present for firms in the new era of the Public Utility Holding Company Act of 2005, by which these institutions may, unintentionally, fall under the jurisdiction of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and its regulations.
