Partner  Alan Goudiss and counsel Christopher LaVigne, members of Shearman & Sterling's Sports Group, recently contributed a chapter titled "Conducting an Effective Sports Investigation" to Inside the Minds—Understanding Sports Law published by Thomson Reuters/Aspatore. The chapter examines the unique set of challenges that sports organizations face when conducting internal investigations into allegations of wrongdoing and the public release of their findings. The authors highlight some of these challenges and considerations and draw comparisons to internal investigations outside of the sports industry, concluding with "best practices" for the sports lawyer.
