Robert S. Whitehill was quoted in the Pittsburgh
Post-Gazette's article, "Visa process proves to be a
daunting challenge." Full text can be found in the July 13,
2014, issue, but a synopsis is below.
In discussing his client,Yakhoub Yadali, who is applying for the
EB-1-1 visa, Whitehill states that his client could seek asylum
rather than the EB-1-1 visa (he is qualified to do either) but is
choosing the "extraordinary ability" status.
He continues to claim that the preponderance of technical EB-1
visas here probably reflects the fact that applicants in the region
are often affiliated with one of the universities, research centers
or medical institutions that the city is known for.
"If we were looking at this issue in [Los Angeles], where
there are more actors and actresses ... it would be a robust issue
and a more robust practice," says Whitehill.
