On 1 April 2014, ESMA published a summary of its 2014
supervisory work plan detailing the supervisory and monitoring
tasks that it intends to undertake relating to trade repositories.
The summary indicates that the European authority is adopting a
risk-based approach to the supervision of trade repositories and is
willing to use its investigatory powers to ensure that trade
repositories comply with their obligations under EMIR to ensure
that regulators have access to the relevant data.
