Employment Partner Joanna Blackburn appeared in Parliament on 6 June 2018 as a witness for the Women and Equalities Committee.
Joanna joined the panel to discuss sexual harassment in the work place. She sat alongside Aileen McColgan, Barrister, 11KBW and Professor of Human Rights Law, King's College London, Liz Rivers, Workplace and Employment Mediator, and Michael Reed, Principal Legal Officer, Employment, Free Representation Unit.
Joanna backed calls to change the sexual harassment laws, saying,
"I do think that there is a huge opportunity for doing something outside the strict legislative framework to address better implementation of the laws we've already got.
"The previous laws around third party harassment required there to be two instances of harassment before the employer's obligation to do something was engaged. That is at least one too many - I don't think it puts an unreasonable burden on employers."
