Industry is driving economic growth, at the same time industrial production processes account for a considerable share of the pollution in Europe. On 6 January 2011, the EU adopted Directive 2010/75/EU (the Industrial Emissions Directive or IED) with the aim of achieving a high level of protection for human health and the environment taken as a whole by reducing harmful industrial emissions across the EU, in particular through better application of Best Available Techniques (BAT).

The Dentons Europe Environment and Natural Resources practice team is delighted to present its new guide to the current regulatory regimes to implement the IED in various EU member states and the UK. In our new guide we discuss the Directive's impact on industrial operations across Europe and provide insight into the regulatory requirements and obligations the industrial operators must comply with, as well as cases and precedents of derogations granted.
