On Wednesday 30th November, I shall be in the House of Commons at a Resolution Lobby Day. Resolution, the association for Family Law solicitors who promote a constructive and non-confrontational approach to Family Law, have campaigned extensively for important changes to Family Law to make it modern, collaborative and relevant to modern families.
I have arranged to meet Steven Baker, the Member of Parliament for Wycombe, to discuss matters such as the importance of No Fault Divorce, rights for individuals in cohabiting relationships, the importance of ensuring that the legal system is both sufficiently modern and well equipped to help Family Court Users, and that all those who need to engage with the Family Court have fair access to the representation they deserve.
Matters such as this are important to the clients of Blaser Mills, and more broadly, separated families across the country, as the current system does not enable them to easily achieve non-confrontational and positive responses without incurring very high levels of costs over a considerable period of time.
Along with my fellow members of Resolution, I am looking forward to the opportunity to discuss these issues with the many MPs who have confirmed their attendance, and to the meaningful progress which Resolution hopes to make in stressing which reforms are needed, and how urgently.
