In a November 28 communication, the UK House of
Commons Science and Technology Committee warned that social media
site terms and conditions are not fit as a mechanism for
demonstrating user consent because the terms and conditions are
excessively long and complex. The Committee called on the
Information Commissioner and the UK government to develop a set of
information standards for clear, concise, and simple terms.
