Abbey VAT case on fund administration: judgment delivered
On Thursday 4 May 2006, the ECJ delivered its judgment in Abbey National Plc and Inscape Investment Fund (joined party) v HM Commissioners of Revenue and Customs (C-169/04). The Court has ruled that although depository services remain taxable, administration services will now be exempt from VAT.

The Market Reform Group publishes ‘Contract Certainty Code of Practice’
FSA regulation of "contract certainty" is a critical issue for insurers and authorised insurance intermediaries. New FSA rules on Third Party Processors but narrower VAT exemption for insurance
On 1st June 2005 new FSA rules came into force regarding firms acting as third party processors ("TPPs") carrying on regulated mortgage activities or insurance mediation activities (in relation to non-investment insurance contracts) or both, for another authorised firm (the "main firm") under an outsourcing agreement.
