El 9 de marzo de 2018, el Ejecutivo federal, público en
el Diario Oficial de la Federación la Ley de Instituciones
de Tecnología Financiera ("Ley Fintech"), misma
que entrará en vigor a partir del 12 de marzo de 2018. La
Ley Fintech regula a las Instituciones de Financiamiento Colectivo
(crowdfunding), Instituciones de Fondos de Pago Electrónico
(electronic wallets), y Empresas Innovadoras (sandbox models) y
permite el uso de activos virtuales y criptomonedas
(cryptocurrency) previamente aprobadas por Banco de
México.
